Summit in Singapore

From July 24–25, more than 400 senior-level business-events professionals from 20-plus countries will unite in Singapore for the 2018 Singapore MICE Forum. Organized by Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organizers & Suppliers (SACEOS), the event aims to explore a range of expert opinions from marketing, events, advertising, associations, media, and HR to challenge the traditional approaches to face-to-face engagement. PCMA is a strategic partner for the event, and Katie Yandell, director of strategic alliances at PCMA, said that the organization is proud to continue to support the forum as it has evolved since its inception in 2011. “We have worked closely with SACEOS to provide speaker suggestions and offer our recommendations as they put together a stimulating program on the future of organizing events and building communities,” Yandell said.

In addition to contributing to the content-curation process in the advance planning stages, PCMA will play a role in the on-site experience, too. “With the support of the Singapore Exhibition and Convention Bureau, we are bringing a delegation of association and corporate organizers to Singapore, and we are uniting a coalition of APAC scholars for an interactive educational gathering the day before the official program kicks off,” Yandell said. “PCMA will also provide a live stream of select sessions during the Singapore MICE Forum, thanks to the support of Korea Tourism Organization. We will also continue to support the student competition, including two PCMA judges who will help determine the group of emerging leaders that will present a plan for a new event at Convening Leaders 2019 in Pittsburgh.”

A Packed APAC Calendar

The Singapore MICE Forum is one example of PCMA’s commitment to leading the business events industry in the APAC region — a commitment that includes a busy back half of 2018. On Aug. 9, PCMA will host another installment of its Knowledge Exchange series, a worldwide initiative to deliver advanced-level insights to VIP-level audiences, in Taipei. On Sept. 11, the organization will host a Leaders’ Forum in Hong Kong. And from Nov. 7–9, PCMA’s 2017 acquisition of Incentive, Conference & Event Society Asia Pacific (ICESAP) will take center stage at the PCMA ICESAP Annual Conference in Bangkok.

“We continue to grow our presence in the APAC region,” Yandell said, “and we are looking forward to connecting with new audiences and delivering the localized education that will accelerate the business-events industry.”
